If you haven’t yet visited Cornwall then perhaps this is the year that you should finally go. I have been back and forth to Cornwall over 10 times in my life, and there is still more that I want to see, enjoy and explore. There is something very special about Cornwall, so much so that it almost feels like a country of its own.
Throughout this southern English county, there is really something for everyone and whether you are looking for dog friendly holiday cottages in Cornwall, a party break or somewhere remote where you can rest and recuperate, Cornwall has got you covered. If you are in any doubt as to whether or not you should visit Cornwall, here are just a few reasons why we think that you should.
Seafood
The seafood which the trawlers bring back to shore each morning, is the same seafood which is found on the plates of some of the most prestigious restaurants in London, such is the high quality. Throughout Cornwall however, you will get the pick of the bunch in terms of the best catch, and you can get it at far better prices than the Dorchester for example. Padstow for me is the best place to enjoy some freshly caught fish, and you will be hard pressed to find better.
Surfing
Surfing isn’t something which one would associate with the UK, but here in Cornwall there is one of the best surf spots both in Europe, and the world. Newquay has been attracting surfers for many years and there are even international surf competitions which take place there each year. If you are a pro-surfer, or looking to lose your surfginity, Newquay is the place to do it.
Theatre
The Minack theatre sits on the Cornish coastline, around 4 miles from Land’s end, it is a theatre that is carved out of rock, and the backdrop to the stage is the English Channel. If you are lucky and there is a performance on during your time in Cornwall, you simply must go, take a picnic and enjoy a rendition of some classic plays.
Peace
Cornwall is a large county that is only really heavily inhabited in the cities and the small towns. Much of this county is relatively untouched, but for a smattering of holiday homes and hidden away cottages. If you are looking for a break which can guarantee you a peaceful place to relax, this is the place where you can do just that.
Scenery
And finally, the stunning scenery throughout Cornwall is more than enough reason to visit. From coastal walks and glorious sunsets, to forest treks and hilly trails, Cornwall has plenty up its sleeve in terms of natural beauty and you will be blown away by what the county has to offer you.
Cornwall’s climate is far more favourable than in the rest of the UK, and on a good day, you could easily think that you were in Spain, Greece or Italy, rather than the foot of the UK. Make sure that you don’t let another year pass you by, head to Cornwall this year.
