The Best Places To Visit On A Road Trip In East Europe

When people think of traveling to Europe quite often they forget about heading to the east of the continent, that is a big mistake because I would argue that it’s much better than the more famous places in the West of Europe.

The region is stepped in history, interesting architecture and many different cultures. Hiring a car and going on a road trip in East Europe will give you the ultimate adventure, introduce you to many hidden places and the best part is that it will be much cheaper than if you went west. You’ll be heading through many ETIAS countries, so that means you need to check out your requirements before you travel – that’s super easy to do and only takes a few minutes, so don’t forget that guys.

Here are 3 cities I think that you cannot afford to miss when you plan your trip through East Europe.

Prague

Prague is the best destination for people who love visiting places with a rich history. I think it would give any other city in Europe a run for its money; Prague Castle (The largest castle in the world), Charles Bridge and the Old Town Square, all combine to wow any visitor. My favourite sights here were St Vitus Cathedral and the Jewish Quarter also known as Josefov. Strolling through the streets of Josefov, wandering in and out of the synagogues and seeing the oldest Jewish cemetery makes for a very interesting day indeed. Once you’ve finished seeing the city it is time to sit down with a nice beer, pilsner is the choice in Prague because it is the city where it was born.

Montenegro

This is a tiny country which is smaller than some states such as Connecticut in the USA. Don’t let the fact that there’s only 5,300 square miles put you off, because what Montenegro lacks in area it makes up for with what it offers visitors. In my favourite Balkan country there’s so much waiting for you to discover; medieval towns, stunning mountain ranges, sweeping beaches and super friendly locals. Head to Sveti Stefan if you want to have a dip in the beautiful waters of the Mediterranean sea.

Bucharest

A lot of the sights in Bucharest allow visitors to learn about the communism and the history of the city. The most stunning building I have seen is here too – The Palace of Parliament, has a whopping 1,100 rooms and is the second largest of its kind on the planet. The other highlights are the Romanian Peasant Museum and also the Village Museums. I should add that the city is a food lover’s paradise – you’ll find some tasty gastronomic delights being served up in a number of restaurants here.
