Skiing Holidays Are Fun For All The Family

I still remember my first skiing holiday when I was five years old. Getting on a coach in dover with my family and 20 of their friends heading off to the French alps for a week of fun. I must admit I didn’t know what to expect because as a kid it’s a bit daunting at first but after the first day I couldn’t get enough of spending time on the slopes.

I was fortunate enough to go once a year since I was five to France, visiting Val Thorens, Les Menuires and St Martin de Belleville. Every time we left I couldn’t wait to go back because they were the best trips we had as a family – we’ve never had more fun. From the skiing, the accommodation in chalet st martin de belleville and the apres ski, there was never a dull moment.

So why are skiing holidays fun for all the family? Here are 3 reasons why:

The Challenge

Skiing presents every one with a real challenge, it might be testing but it is super fun. I highly recommend that everyone joins a ski school each morning and then meet up as a group in the afternoon to explore the slopes. The great thing about facing a challenge is that after each day you have a sense of overwhelming achievement, you sit around and chat about all the fun you had as well as the wipe outs too. I’ll explain more about that soon in the apres ski part.

The Location

I know a holiday on the beach is great but imagine being surrounded by snow and mountains where ever you look. Being in the snowy mountains is something very special indeed. You don’t only get those views when you’re gliding down the slopes or enjoying lunch on the slopes, if you stay in the apartment les menuires you will be greeted with a view of the mountains as you eat your breakfast. That beats the beach any day!

The Apres Ski

For people who haven’t been skiing it’s often difficult to understand that a holiday on the slopes is just as much fun when you don’t have the skis on. Apres ski is famous for being an absolute blast. You can enjoy the finest food, dance the night away, chat about the slopes you conquered that day and make new friends. The kids also love it because they can enjoy night skiing, ice skating, snow parks and more. Skiing really is fun for all the family.
