How about a break in Barcelona?

City breaks are a fantastic answer to a busy working week, giving you something to look forward to as an answer to the humdrum of 9-5. When it comes to choosing where to go, you can be spoilt for options, as there are some amazing city choices in Europe. If you want to pick somewhere close to home yet full of things to see and do, with a true continental vibe, then Barcelona could be the city destination for you.

There are plenty of cheap flights to be found heading to this Spanish city of wonder, and if you can combine your bargain flight fare with added extras to further bring down the cost of travel then you’re laughing before you even leave home. One of those added extras is airport parking, and this is something I always do regardless of where I’m going. I always find the best rates through ParkBCP, and I recently booked parking at East Midlands Airport for a fantastic price. I know that when I set off I’ll be a lot calmer as a result of being able to control my journey, as well as having saved money!

You only have to head online to Skyscanner to see how cheap flights from the UK to Barcelona can be, and if you search hard enough then you’ll be able to find value accommodation too. Cutting costs here does mean you will have more to spend whilst you’re away, which equals more fun.

Obviously Las Ramblas is the place to be in terms of touristic attractions, and you’ll love sitting watching the world go by with a coffee, enjoying the occasional street entertainment, and checking out the beautiful architecture. The famous cathedral is a must visit, and if you are into your architecture then checking out Gaudi’s work is a must do – it won’t be hard because there examples of this all over the city.

For fans of sport then visiting Barcelona FC is a total must do, and a tour around here even for non-football fans is a great day out, because the stadium is huge! Of course, if shopping is more your bag then you’ll find plenty of that, and designer labels mixed with more high street brands too – there is something for everyone’s budget!

Mixing your day time activities with a spot of vibrant nightlife will certainly top off your visit, and again, Las Ramblas is the place to start, with a nice meal and a few cocktails before moving onto the more vibrant atmospheres a little further into the city centre.

However you choose to spend your city break in Barcelona, be sure to take plenty of photos, as the cityscape will blow your mind.
