Essential Info For Car Rental In The USA

When you go on holiday with your family you will often find yourself with problem of how you get around. If you think about it, with a family, transport is an essential part of your holiday – if you don’t plan it properly then you will end up having a real headache each time you have to go from A to B. The best thing you can do is hire a car, it makes every much easier and is also better for your budget as opposed to taking taxis which will cost a small fortune.

So to make it easier for all the readers, I thought it would be a good idea to help you with some essential info for car rental in the USA. So here’s what you need to know:

Remember Your License

I know this seems really obvious but you would be surprised how many people forget. You need to make sure that your license is valid and that it’s in your bag before you travel. If you’ve booked a rental car, check and check again before you leave for the airport. You will be required to present it at the rental desk before you get the keys.

Credit Card

When hiring a car it is essential to have a credit card, this is used as a guarantee to cover any costs in the unfortunate situation you have an accident. If you can, bring along an embossed credit card because believe it or not some companies won’t take a card that isn’t embossed.

Insurance

You will need to take out insurance before you’re allowed to leave with the car. I recommend that you take out the highest level of coverage offered to you because then the excess payment will be lower if you have to pay – it also gives you peace of mind and leaves you stress free.

Where To Find Your Car

There are hundreds of websites online for you to book a car on, but you can’t be sure that the website you’re using is a reputable one. So here are 5 sites that I think are the top five online. I did a lot of research and also checked the ratings on Trustpilot before I ranked the sites from 1-5.

1- Viajemos.com 9.3/10

The best of the best. After reading the reviews from customers I know that when you book with Viajemos you will have a great experience from start to finish. You can compare prices from top car rentals around the world, book quickly and be greeted by well trained staff at the counter.

2- Miles car rental 9.2 / 10

Miles Car Rental come in a very close second to the website above, if I could I would have put them both number 1. They have agreements with the most famous car rental companies on the planet and also throw in a few great bonuses customers love. Two of the best bonuses are; adding on insurance at no extra cost and also renting cars to people under 25 years old with out increasing price, that is something you won’t find with other websites.

3- Despegar.com 9/10

Despegar is another good website that you can use, they offer a lot of services you need for a holiday such as accommodation and car rental. Whilst a lot of customers do comment that their service is efficient and good, many reviewers commented that communicating with them is difficult. People said there was no one who could speak english to them and also it is very hard for anyone to answer emails.

4- Car Rental 8 8.8/10

Car Rental 8 is a well know website which cooperates with many of the leading car rental companies. Their site is easy to use and you can book your rental very quickly. Most of the reviewers have had a great experience with them, the only negative is that some people comment on how they don’t give enough information after you book which can lead to complications later on.

5- Rentingcarz  8.8/10

Rentingcarz has a wide selection of vehicles for customers to choose from. Their service is good and it seems that the majority of people are happy with what they received from the company. Do make sure when you book with them that they have the car available that you booked – one user wrote how they had reserved an automatic car, but when they arrived at the airport there was no automatic car available for them.

I do hope these essential tips help you to prepare you for your next holiday to the USA when you rent a car. Let me know how you guys get on!
