Chamonix

Chamonix is a town at the foot of Mont Blanc, which is the highest point in the French Alps. It’s quite a sight to see and it is an all year round destination for many tourists. During the summer months it’s a hub for hiking, climbing, mountain biking and much more. The surrounding nature is extremely beautiful with gushing streams, endless meadows and, of course, imposing mountains.

In the winter, skiing is the thing to do. It’s one of the most famous and best skiing destinations on the entire planet and for this reason it is at the top of this list.

If you are looking for an incredible view, don’t forget to take the Mont Blanc Gondola, where you can see incredible views of the alps.

Annecy

With its beautiful lake and impressive mountains, Annecy is a place out of a movie or a TV show. The summer months are a great time to visit especially due to the explosion of colour from all the greenery and the flowers that grow in the mountains. The town itself is quaint and extremely beautiful with medieval cobbled streets and alleyways, small canals and bridges dotted throughout the city.

The city is home to some great architecture, with a number of notable buildings, like the Gothic Church of Saint-Maurice and the Annecy Cathedral. The Château d’Annecy is also a beautiful and dominates the skyline of Annecy. It was once home to the Counts of Geneva, but has been turned into a museum (the Museum of Alpine Popular Art) and is home to a number of sculptures and paintings from regional artists.
