If you have not been to Cornwall yet then right now is the time that you need to start planning your UK break to this gorgeous region. Cornwall is overlooked by many domestic travelers, for reasons which are completely unknown to us, but statistics suggest that tourism numbers across the county are nowhere near as high as they should be. These statistics of course are both good and bad, great because you can enjoy it without the crowds, but not so good for Cornish tourism. I have visited Cornwall almost every two years in the past decade and each time I go I managed to explore something new as there are so many things to do in Cornwall. If you needed any convincing as to why you should get booked up for a Cornish break, here are just 5 of many reasons.
Temperature
Us Brits love nothing more than moving about the weather, especially when it is cold, damp and miserable outside. Cornwall however, whilst not being completely free from miserable weather, has a far nicer climate than anywhere else in the UK, given its southern proximity. In the summer especially, there are days in Cornwall where you will think that you are in the middle of the Med.
Minack Theater
My most recent Cornish discover was the Minack theater, a Grecian style amphitheater which has been built right on the coast, with the backdrop to the stage being the sea. Here you will find plenty of Shakespeare plays being performed, as well as some local musicals and stage shows. Bring a picnic and enjoy some live entertainment at sunset.
Fishing Villages
Cornwall is of course still a functioning county which has many fishing trawlers that head off from the coast each and every morning, bringing back fresh fish which is sold throughout the country. As you make your way along the coast of Cornwall you will run into several of these quaint fishing towns and villages, which offer you a glimpse into the real Cornwall, and the way of life that those who live here have.
Padstow
The best food to eat here in Cornwall is of course fresh fish and seafood, and the best place to eat it is right here in Padstow. This is a very chic and classy fishing town which has some of the finest restaurants in Cornwall. TV chef Rick Stein owns 3 restaurants here, each serving the very best and the very freshest fish.
Beaches
There aren’t too many places in the UK that would make you comment on its beaches but Cornwall is one of those places. When the sun is shining down, a Cornish beach is the perfect place for you to spend your time with soft sand, and plenty of hidden away coves where you can enjoy a sunny day in peace and tranquility.
Cornwall is a wonderful place to visit, and now is theme to start planning that trip.
