Exploring the UK Cheaply

Whilst it is always easy to discuss exotic locations when talking about travel, that isn’t to say that there isn’t anything available on your own doorstep. Here’s a quick guide to exploring the UK for anyone who feels adventurous, or simply wants to experience the country more.

Travelling

Of course, you need a reliable way to get around. As small as the UK is, it’s not somewhere where walking or cycling from city to city is an option. As such, a reliable method of going to various locations would be beneficial.

Fortunately, the rail links in the UK are very effective, connecting most of the country and giving you all the access you need. Furthermore, they’re great for budget travelling, as there are cheap rail fares and advanced booking discounts that you can always take advantage of.

Somewhere To Sleep

Likewise, any traveller will need somewhere to sleep for the night, so accommodation is always going to be just as big a priority. Fortunately, the major cities in the UK offer a wide amount of choice. If hotels are too pricey for you, there are always B&Bs, hostels and various other options suited for any budget.

However, it’s always best to book in advance where possible, so you don’t risk turning up to a fully booked building. This will also give you the chance to research your options and find the best deal.

Location Suggestions

Whilst it’s good to discuss your travel and sleeping options, most people like to have a destination in mind. With the UK, you are spoilt for choice. Every city or town tends to have its own unique appeal, with some of the more popular destinations offering surprising differences between each other.

Along the east coast, for instance, you can easily reach a number of cities via east coast trains. These routes go from London to Edinburgh, offering you access to most of the country. Along the east coast you have access to the likes of Leeds, an historic city with plenty of charm and appeal, and Newcastle, a more modern city big on shopping and night-life with its own proud culture and heritage.

You also have the likes of London and Edinburgh at either end, two city capitals world famous for their international culture and charm. Wherever you go, there’s always something to see and do if you keep your eyes open.
