Nomadic Matt, who runs an extremely popular travel blog, is an avid world traveler and solo traveler. His first trip out of the United States (and his first solo travel experience) was on a trip to Costa Rica with Gap Adventures, a company that offers group tours geared toward younger people. It is what sparked his love for travel, and he wants to pass on the opportunity for someone else.
The winner will receive a free Gap Adventures Costa Rica Explorer trip for one, plus airfare to and from.
There are two ways to enter. If you have a blog, write a 550-word blog post and publish it. If you don’t have a blog, you can create a 1 ½ minute video and put it on a video hosting site such as YouTube or Vimeo. Whether you write the blog post or make the video, your mission is to answer the question, “Why do you want this trip, and what do you hope to get out of it?” Matt encourages entrants to be creative, unique, and compelling.
If you do the blog post, it must include a link to the contest announcement page and mention that Nomadic Matt and Gap Adventures are giving this trip away and that is what you are entering.
According to Matt’s website, here is how to enter:
- Become a fan of Gap Adventures and Nomadic Matt on Facebook.
- Submit the url of your blog post or video to this email address: thenomadicmatt @ gmail dot com with the title “Costa Rica Giveaway”
- Optional tweet if you are on Twitter: “I just entered to win a free trip to Costa Rica from @nomadicmatt and @gapadventures (insert the shortened url of your entry so people can read it)
- Tell all your friends to vote in the public voting. The public will help select the best entries so tell the world and get them involved.
The contest is open until Feb. 14. Fifty finalists will be voted on by the public. The top 10 entries will then be voted on by Nomadic Matt, Gap Adventure’s CEO (Bruce Poon Tip) and three other travel bloggers. The winner will be announced on March 7th. The winner will be required to go on the trip that departs on March 28th, 2010.
