During our three month tour around Thailand we ended up falling in love with Phuket. It comes as no surprise that millions of people visit this destination year after year – it is easily one of the most popular places in Asia. It is an island with easy access to the mainland and cheap flights from Bangkok, which keep people coming back. We took the boat from Koh Lanta to Phuket and to be honest we didn’t think we’d find a place that would be beat the beautiful island we were leaving.
Phuket is busier than all the other islands you find in Thailand, but it is busy because its a fantastic destination. Chilled out vibes, perfect weather and luxury combined to make us love the place. Here are some of the reasons why we will definitely be returning in the future.
The Beaches
The amazing beaches people enjoy on the island are probably the number one reason why many tourists choose to return to Phuket year after year. There are huge stretches of sweeping sandy beaches, with lush turquoise waters plus the stunning jagged rock formations that tower above above you as if they’re touching the clouds. For those wanting to enjoy beach atmosphere with a lively party feel Patong is the place to be, here you’ll find lots of fellow travellers enjoying themselves all night long. If you want to get away from the crowds and chill out you need to head north for a quieter time.
The Food
Thai food is hands down the best in the world, each spoonful that hits your mouth is packed with flavour…and sometimes a tad too much chilli, but you’ll get used to that. They serve up all the main thai delights, but what you need to be eating here is seafood because its fresh and tastes amazing. I’d recommend Ang Seafood and Mee Ton Pho for a guaranteed good serving of authentic thai food.
The Adventure
Lounging by the beach and soaking up the sun feels like heaven but you can only do it for so long, on Phuket there are plenty of adventures to be had. If you’re a seasoned adrenaline junkie or someone looking for your first taste of thrill seeking you will find it all here. Scuba diving is one of the top things to do along with quad biking, zip lining and blood pumping white water rafting. It is impossible to get bored here!
