The British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean are paradise for anyone looking for a relaxing and gorgeous holiday. There are more than 40 islands but most travelers stick to the biggest: Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke and Anegada. If you’re looking for some adventures in the water, here are 4 great ideas on 4 different British Virgin Islands:
Swim with Dolphins, Tortola Tortola is the most populous of the Virgin Islands, home to the majority of the territory’s commerce. Escape the main drag and head to Smuggler’s Cove for a romantic or just plain relaxing beach rendezvous. Then check out the Royal Dolphin Swim for the chance to experience these amazing animals firsthand. You’ll get an orientation session, then jump in the water for a kiss on the cheek from a dolphin. Grab hold of their fins and speed around with these playful creatures, an experience not to be forgotten!
The Baths, Virgin Gorda The Baths are what many people come to the Virgin Islands to see, so make sure you don’t miss them! Book a stay at one of the stunning Virgin Gorda villas, then come explore these beautiful grottos and tidepools by boat or by foot. They’re located at the bottom of a hill on the south end of the island. Climb through the boulders and end at Devil’s Bay, a stunning beach area at the end of the rocks. Here you can find amazing snorkeling in the crystal clear waters. Enjoy a meal at the restaurant on the top of the hill after the adventure.
White Bay, Jost Van Dyke If beaches are your thing, head to Jost Van Dyke for white sand, perfect surf and great atmosphere. White Bay is by far one of the best beaches on the island. It’s near the Great Harbor, an area bustling with bars, restaurants and villas so you’ll be relaxed but still near the action. Nearby cafes serve up cheap burgers and stiff drinks.
Explore the RMS Rhone, Salt Island It’s true that one of the best things to do on the island of Anagada is to simply relax! But if you’re up for more adventure, strap on some scuba gear and go explore the RMS Rhone, a shipwreck off of the nearby Salt Island. It’s been voted the best shipwreck dive in the Caribbean! It usually takes divers 2 dives to see the entire wreck, so plan accordingly if you want to experience its entirety.
