5. World Series (Baseball) – United States of America, TBD
The World Series is arguably the most honored and beloved playoff series in all of America. Baseball is this country’s past-time and it’s always fun to go to a game, eat ballpark hotdogs and enjoy a good game of baseball.
This year though things are very interesting. Although its early in the season now, the Mets, Angels, and Blue Jays all look like teams that could make runs into the postseason. The Mets have not won a title since 1986, the Blue Jays since 1993, and the Angels since 2002.
If the Mets and Blue Jays face off in the World Series, traveling to Toronto and New York would be an excellent time to see those cities.
4. French Open- Roland-Garros, Paris, France
The French Open is one of the most exciting and intense professional tennis tournaments each year. Played on bright orange clay, the French Open is always bound to have some wild action and great matches.
The French Open is notorious for being the tournament in which Rafael Nadal does his best work. In 16 years of playing at Roland-Garros, Rafa has 105 wins and just 3 losses. He’s won the tournament 13 of the past 16 years, only losing in 2009, 2015, and 2016.
Nadal will have to finish recovering from a lingering injury before he competes in France, but when he does it will be a great thing to watch. What a great excuse to travel to France in the summer.
3. The Open Championship (Golf) – St. Andrews, Scotland
One of Golf’s most prestigious courses, The Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland is home to the Open Championship this year. The last person to win this tournament was Collin Morikawa last year, but the last to win on this course was Zach Johnson back in 2015.
The last three winners on this course also include Louis Oosthuizen and Tiger Woods. Scotland is beautiful year round, but visiting in the summer to see one of the most legendary golf tournaments in the world could be incredible.
2. Formula One’s Miami Grand Prix- Miami, Florida
Formula One is hosting the first-ever Miami Grand Prix at the Miami International Autodrome in Miami, Florida. The track will surround Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins. This will be the first F1 race in the United States that has not taken place in Texas.
The Grand Prix will be such a unique experience, especially for Americans who are not as experienced with Formula One as other countries. It will be amazing to see how the track design plays out as well.
Miami can be hot in the summertime, so visiting in early May before the real heat kicks in could be a good idea. The track is almost complete and Miami is gearing up for one of the world’s most exciting International Sports.
1. The 2022 FIFA World Cup (Soccer) – Qatar
Every few years the world comes together to celebrate and watch people play Soccer (or Futbol). That time has come again this year as the FIFA World Cup will take place in Qatar this year during the months of November and December, due to high temperatures in Qatar during the summer.
Whether or not you travel to Qatar or some other part of the world to experience this global sporting event, you should try to experience the World Cup in a global environment. So many countries use soccer to come together, and it is a beautiful thing to watch and experience, so don’t miss the opportunity.
