Everyone reads blogs in this digital age, in particular travel blogs and the huge popularity of the internet means that everyone has become much more interested in travel and lifestyle than ever before. It doesn’t matter if you come from a small town in Europe or a large city like London, it is possible for everyone to start a travel blog. Here are some things that you need to know about how to start a travel blog.
The right time to start is now
Regardless of what you think, knowing how to start a travel blog is something that you can learn right now. If you haven’t started then just do it, it isn’t hard to do and there are already some great platforms around for blogging. I would recommend using WordPress, because it is easy to use and the best platform around.
It isn’t expensive
When you think about the price of blogging there are effectively two things that you need: a little time and a little money. Travel blogging is not at all expensive to do and buying a domain name and hosting a website costs only a few dollars each month. To put this into perspective hosting a website for a month, on a host like GoDaddy or Bluehost, costs about as much or less than a meal in most countries! Most people can certainly afford this.
It is going to be rewarding
Having a travel blog is rewarding for different people in different ways. For some, it means simply connecting with their family and friends and letting them know exactly what they are up to. For others, it is an incredible opportunity to actually modify your lifestyle and earn some money. For the majority of people the first scenario will be the case, but it is possible to change your life through a travel blog and there are many good examples of people that have done this.
You don’t need content now
I know a lot of people that are planning to write a travel blog, but think that they need a lot of content before they even begin and this is just not true. Of course, having some content to begin with is always a good idea, but you can always simply write as you go. This for me is much more exciting than writing a blog three months in advance. You will also write fresher content when you write as you go and I love reading back on what I have written. I usually find some very small details that I have completely forgotten, so it is also a great thing to help you remember what will be some of your fondest memories.
