I absolutely adore Cornwall and I would go as far to say that it is my most favorite of all English counties. Each year my family and I love nothing more than spending a week at the fabulous Perran Springs Holiday Park, which makes for the perfect base from which to see all that Cornwall has to offer. I am always surprised at just how few of my friends and colleagues have actually realized just what Cornwall has to offer, so I wanted to give you all some motivation to head south and see what this brilliant county has to offer. Don’t believe me? Read on as to why you will adore Cornwall.
Pasties
Pasties are everywhere but there is only one Cornish Pasty, the original and the tastiest can be found here in Cornwall. Throughout the county you’ll find many local bakeries knocking up these beautiful pastry parcels with meat and veg inside, more than enough reason to visit.
Surfing
Whether you are a beginner or a pro surfer you will love the surf here in Newquay, in fact many flock from around the world to surf here. Beginners can get lessons from the many surf schools here, and sample this brilliant water sport.
Natural Beauty
Cornwall doesn’t just offer some of the most splendid coastal landscapes in the country, it also offers forests and huge green areas which are the perfect example of the old English countryside. One moment you could be in a farmers field and the next on the edge of a craggy cliff.
Seafood
The trawlers which land in Cornwall each morning bring back fish and seafood so beautiful that it is almost always snapped up by the country’s finest restaurants. Here in Cornwall however you can eat it at its freshest and it most delightful.
Fishing Villages
All along the Cornish coast you’ll find these wonderful sleep villages which were nice bustling fishing villages. These days these villages are the perfect place to sit down and enjoy some fresh tea and a scone with local clotted cream, in a quiet and relaxing corner of the world.
The Minack Theater
The Minack is one of Cornwall’s best kept secrets, a small outdoor amphitheater which is situated right on the water’s edge. What better way to enjoy a Cornish evening that to take a bottle of wine, some sandwiches and a picnic blanket, to watch some live theater overlooking the breathtaking views across the English Channel?
The People
The Cornish are some of the friendliest Brits that I have ever encountered and they are incredibly welcoming. Wherever you go you will find that the locals enjoy the simple things in life, a slow pace, good food and fine company, the perfect combination for a great break away.
If you haven’t visited Cornwall yet then these are just a few of the things which you can expect when you do, what are you waiting for?
