So here are 5 sites that you cannot miss when you head off on the holiday of a lifetime – visit all of these places and you will fall in love with South America instantly!
Galapagos Islands
The Galapagos Islands are known around the globe, the main reason for visiting are the colorful creatures. You’ll be able to marvel at the giant tortoises, penguins, lizards and even seals. I have to admit that it’s not the cheapest place to get to but it certainly is one of the best, ignore the expense because it’s worth every single penny. Another alluring feature of the islands are that they have a minimal human footprint – it just gets better the more you discover about the place!
Machu Picchu
It would be a crime to join any of the South America Tours and not visit Machu Picchu. It’s mind blowing to think that this place was forgotten about right up until the 20th century. Otherwise known as the ‘lost city of the Inca Empire’ it truly is a mystical place full of temples and archeological sites. Then if all that wasn’t enough in the background you have the Verdant mountains to stare at. Get ready for a steep trek up to the top, don’t give up because waiting at the top are amazing secrets from the ancient city.
Iguazu Falls
If you’re looking for one of the globe’s most awe-inspiring sights then look no further than the Iguazu Falls! When I first set my eyes on this place my jaw just dropped. As you approach the falls you can here the power and noise of this natural marvel. You’ll never forget this place, how can you forget a chain of hundreds of waterfalls that run for nearly 3km?
Easter Island
There aren’t many specks of land anywhere on the planet that are more mystical than Easter Island. Even if you don’t know a thing about the Island I am sure you’ve seen pictures of the logic-defying statues – who hasn’t? It’s one of the most isolated locations on the planet but somehow has this mysterious vibe that you can feel as you first lay your eyes on it. Make sure your camera is fully charged because you’re going to be snapping away like crazy when you get there.
Patagonia
I haven’t met anyone who visited Patagonia and wasn’t captivated by the unbelievable scenery. You will be completely blown away by the Lake District and rustic cattle ranges, make sure you don’t miss out on the history when you visit the Cave of the Hands. Then of course there’s my favourite part, which was meeting the Punta Tomo’s friendly Magellan penguins.
