I can’t imagine not having my digital nomad travel insurance when I hit the road these days. I must admit that it took me a few years to wake up to the fact that travel insurance was essential, it scares me to think of all the activities and travel I did without it in the past.
Finding good digital nomad insurance is easy these days, you can do it online and it only takes about 30 minutes. So basically you can get fully covered and have peace of mind when you travel in less time than it takes to watch an episode of your favourite series on Netflix – it’s a no brainer and something we should all do!
I know that many of you reading this will already have travel insurance, so for all of you out there that don’t here are 3 top reasons you need to buy it before your next trip.
Hefty Medical Bills
Having grown up in the UK I’m used to being able to see a doctor or go to a hospital whenever I have a medical issue. Once you start travellng to other countries you realise just how fortunate we are to have something like the NHS back home. It can be a bit of a curse because many people will overlook the costs involved when you have to shell out for hefty medical bills. If you go over on your ankle or take a tumble on a hike and break your leg the bills, without insurance, can end up costing you thousands of pounds. That can have a lasting impact on your life and leave you in debt for a long time – now you can see how travel insurance is essential.
It’s Easy & Affordable
Buying travel insurance is simple and easy, it also costs less than you think. Apart from the fact that it’s affordable, it is also well worth it when you weigh it up against the cost of hospital bills. I have digital nomad insurance which costs me a whopping $9 a month! It’s such a minimal amount I don’t even miss it but I know I will appreciate whenever I have to use it. $9 a month versus a huge medical bill is an absolute no brainer!
Avoid A Ruined Trip
The whole aim of a holiday is to relax and chill out, you certainly don’t want to be dealing with annoying mishaps that will ruin your trip. This can include cancelled flights, missed flight connections, losing your belongings or the airline losing your bags. With travel insurance you’ll be covered for all these mishaps, so you don’t have to worry about things beyond your control losing you money.
