How to Plan Your Trip

If you’ve decided Bangkok will be your choice for New Year’s Eve, start planning now. The first thing you want to figure out is how to get there. If you’re taking a plane, you’ll likely fly into Don Muang Airport. The Airport Rail Link, which is located on the basement level of the passenger terminal, is the fastest way to get downtown. Plus, you’ll avoid traffic.

A place to stay should be your next priority. Your options for accommodation in Bangkok are plentiful, from luxury to boutique choices. Even if you plan on dancing into the early morning, you’ll need a place to sleep off your hangover.

To get around once you put away your luggage, hopping on the modern Skytrain (BTS) or the MRT (underground system) can get you to any area. Taxis tend to be affordable; however, Bangkok is infamous for its congestion, and that’s probably one thing in the city you won’t mind missing.

The Best Clubs for New Year’s Eve
Most clubs, bars and restaurants will be doing something special for this festive night, but here are some of the best clubs to choose from. No matter where you go, you’ll want to dress your best and bring lots of money. Most clubs will have an entry fee, which includes a drink or two.

  • Bed Supperclub. This ultra-modern, Hollywood-esque club, known as Bed, is where the rich and beautiful will be. It’s a restaurant, stage, gallery and club merged into one — and it’s a great people-watching spot, too. For New Year’s Eve, expect a famous DJ to be spinning and the drinks to be flowing.

  • Route 66. Located in RCA, a complex with many bars and clubs, Route 66 is sure to have some of the best DJs in Bangkok. If you like to mix things up or are with a group of people with varying tastes, this could be your ideal place. Each wing features different music.

  • Glow. The young and trendy flock to this club in the Klongtoey district for its underground house, trance and techno music. The ambiance is dark and loud, and while the layout is a bit boxy, it can be a good way to meet people and find a dancing partner.

  • Q Bar. Highly ranked by tourists and locals alike, Q Bar is nearby Bed and is frequented by jetsetters. International DJs, a comfortable lounge and a spacious terrace are some of the draws.

  • Club Culture. This popular location was once a theater and still has the traditional decor. The dance floor is large; the music tends to be trance and house. It isn’t located near any other clubs, though there is a BTS station nearby.

  • Narcissus. Known as Naz, this club offers three floors of banging music and is world-renowned for its featured DJs, such as Tiesto and Paul Oakenfold. The architecture is Grecian, and you can even enjoy the sprawling outdoor area.

  • Mixx. This club in the basement of the President Tower Arcade at the InterContinental Hotel, which is in the heart of Bangkok, features two rooms playing hip-hop and trance.

  • Khao San Road. If you’re on a tight budget, you might want to check out the clubs in this area, which often attract travellers. The vibe is unlike any other in Bangkok.

Whatever you choose to do, you won’t be bored in Bangkok. Pulsating sounds, well-dressed clubgoers and bubbly drinks will be everywhere. So get excited, because this could be one New Year’s Eve you remember for the rest of your life.
