Linnanmaki Amusement Park

Whether you have kids or not, a day at the amusement park is a perfect way to treat your inner child! And with all the fun attractions right on a hilltop just outside Helsinki, you won’t believe the spectacular views you have while riding the rides and enjoying all the amusement park fun. Come here during the summer to enjoy great weather and hanging out with the locals. Admission is free, and you only pay if you want to ride the rides.

Esplanade Park

Everyone needs a little break from the busy schedule of sightseeing, so take a restful afternoon in Esplanade Park. It’s right in the center of Helsinki, so an easy spot to take a rest! If you park yourself near the Espa Stage, you might be lucky enough to catch some live music during the day or evening, especially in summertime. The also hold folk-dancing here in June and a jazz festival in July. Esplanade Park is the perfect place to bring a picnic and just kick back and enjoy the outdoors.

Helsinki Zoo

It’s always fun to break up the normal sightseeing with a trip to the zoo, and the zoo here in Helsinki is one of the oldest in the world (so technically, you’re doing historical sightseeing at the same time!) Explore the 200 animal species here including lots of endangered species you won’t see other places. This zoo is a refuge for many endangered animals and they are committed to protecting their animals here, so you’ll feel great supporting a good cause.

Ride the Karaoke Taxi

Do you really love to check out the offbeat things to do when you go traveling? Helsinki is a great place to be for that. You might already know of Japan as one of the main capitals for karaoke in the world, but surprisingly, Finland is making great strides in the area! So if you see the Karaoke Taxi rolling through town, jump in for the ride of your life. The minibus holds about 12 people and is fully equipped with everything you need for a mobile karaoke party.

 

Olympic Stadium

Travelers interested in learning about Helsinki’s past and culture will enjoy a visit to the Olympic Stadium here. It was built back in 1938 in a functionalist style, for the 1952 Olympic Games.
