Five Free Things to Do in Paris

France is always at the top of the list when it comes to the amount of foreign visitors every year. This is a good thing for travelers but also a bad thing for travelers. It’s good because that means there are plenty of things to see and do. The negative twist is that popular places and attractions tend to be more expensive than necessary. But have no fear. We’ve taken to the streets and done the research to find a few of the best things you can do in the France’s most visited city, Paris, for free.

Walking Tour

Many European cities have free walking tours and Paris is one of them. This is one of the best things that you can invest your time into when visiting a city. Walking tours usually last a few hours and take you to all of the major sightseeing destinations that the city will have to offer. The best part is that the tour is free. The tour guide usually just asks for a tip at the end of the tour, which is optional. But lets be real, throw the guide a tip! They leave twice a day at 11 a.m. & 1 p.m. from the fountain at the Place St. Michel.

Watch the Light Show at the Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower. Have you heard of it? It’s only one of the most recognizable pieces of architecture in the world and every night it has a light show for five minutes on the hour every hour until 1 a.m. and during the summer it goes until 2 a.m. This is a good thing to plan part of your night around.

Go to the ‘Showcase’

The Showcase is a live music venue that has free admission before midnight. This venue is located in a beautiful spot of the city underneath the Alexandre III Bridge. You can get any kind of music depending on the night. The Showcase can have any kind of music from rock bands to jazz acts to world famous DJs. No matter what you get it’s sure to be a fun night.

Visit Some Museums

If you can plan to be in Paris on the first Sunday of the month you can get into all of the major museums for free. You can actually get to see three of the top attractions in the city for free as entry to the Louvre, the Musee d’Orsay, and the Pompidou Centre all participate in the free Sunday. People travel from all over the world to see what famous pieces of art sit in the halls of these places. Why not check them out for free?

Hang Out in Place des Vosges

This is actually the city’s oldest planned square. It’s a great place to walk around and spend an afternoon watching the Parisian life go by. You can grab a coffee and sit on a bench or lay in the grass by the fountain. There are street performers regularly and the architecture of the old buildings is something to be marveled.

Paris is definitely a city that should be seen if visiting France. There are plenty of hotels in Paris that you can check out to make sure you have the best accommodation for you.
