I’m a huge fan of bed and breakfasts. They are run by people who are passionate about what they do and the town they live in. They are often family owned and operated, and it is not unusual for the owner to be the one who checks you in or cooks you the meals. Sometimes the most interesting part is the other guests you meet. B&Bs provide a very intimate and personal experience.
Every time I have stayed at a B&B, the owner or inn keeper has excitedly shared with me all of the local restaurants I must go to, sights I must see, and stores I must shop in. They offer the insight of a local and pamper you like a child home for Thanksgiving.
Two summers ago, my mother and I stayed in a fantastic bed and breakfast, Burnhead, in a rural area of Northern England. It was a beautiful stone home right along the historic Hadrian’s Wall and was chock-full of history. The owners were a friendly and welcoming retired couple who cooked us a traditional British breakfast. They loved the area and enjoyed telling us about it. I met a fascinating fellow guest at breakfast whose job it was to stay in hotels and B&Bs across the country in cognito in order to do reviews and rankings on behalf of the government and tourism board (his cover had already been blown). I would not have had these experiences at a hotel.
As you can imagine, I was excited when I found out about BedandBreakfast.com. It features listings of bed and breakfasts, cabins, guest houses, country inns, homestays, and even some unusual accommodations, such as working farm and ranch vacations, across the world. Travelers can search by the site by amenities, location, online bookings, special packages, last-minute availability, or acceptance of BedandBreakfast.com gift certificates.
Once you are on the property listing, you can see the property on a map, view photos, and learn about rates, amenities, policies, meal information, and more. For some B&Bs, you can read reviews from past guests. You can book by calling or emailing the innkeeper(s), though other listings allow you to book directly online.
The gift cards come with no fees or expiration dates, and it has no blackout dates. They are accepted at around 4,000 B&Bs in U.S. & Canada. If your loved one enjoys traveling, give the gift of adventure with BedandBreakfast.com getaway gift cards

Bed and breakfast gift cards make great gifts not just for Christmas, but also for birthdays, anniversaries, engagements and weddings! I think more people should add them to their gift registry list as once they’re home from their honeymoon, or had their new baby, they won’t have the money for travelling very far.
