Me approaching Santorini

In college, I was obsessed with photography. I bought a fancy digital SLR and took photos everywhere I went. I even landed some professional photographs gigs for a variety of local businesses (spas, car dealerships, fashion shoots for a student website, etc.). Sadly, once I graduated school and became a full-time writer, I didn’t spend much time or effort keeping up with my photography.

Traveling is what brings my passion for photography back. I never travel without my camera, and often return with hundreds or thousands of images. It’s when I really give myself permission to stop and smell the roses and take photos of what calls out to me. Being somewhere new and different provides such an interesting perspective and endless fresh subjects. Lately, I’ve had a lot of fun sharing some of my favorite travel photos through photo essays. I think I’m going to be doing more of that.

Today, GoBackpacking.com just published a guest post by me. It’s a photo essay of the Greek islands, and I took these images last summer (2009). My sister and I went on a cruise together through the islands in order to get a good taste of the area on our first trip to the country. I had been dying to go to Greece my whole life, and it was just as beautiful as I had imagined. I just wish I had been able to spend more time there, but I will go back someday.

Please check out my guest post to view some of my favorite photos I took on that trip. Enjoy!
