5 Cities To Tick Off Your Bucket List in 2017

 

The time has come to tick more things off of your bucket list.  This year plan an escape from your busy day to day schedule and tick off these five exciting cities.

Phnom Penh 

Phnom Penh is the capital city of Cambodia.  It is a fascinating city with many places of interest for you to visit.  The city is located at the junction of the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers.  Take a stroll along the riverfront and you will find Silver Pagoda, Royal Palace, and the National Museum.  There are also plenty of bars, restaurants, and parks to relax in.  No trip to Cambodia is complete without a trip to Angkor Wat and it is located less than six hours outside the city.

London

The capital city of the United Kingdom is a fascinating blend of history and modernity.  You can take a hop on hop off bus tour to get a feel for the city or go with a private company who can arrange a tour for you.  It will point out such fascinating places as the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Big Ben and the London Eye.  There are over two hundred museums to visit, plenty of great shopping like Harrods, New Bond Street, and Bond Street, and fabulous dining and nightlife.  You can also visit the Globe Theatre where Shakespeare’s plays were once performed.

Seville

Seville is the capital city of the Andalusia region in southern Spain.  A visit to the Alcázar of Seville as this stunning building built primarily n the 1300’s is considered one of the most beautiful palaces in Spain.  You can also wander through the extensive gardens that are part of the grounds.  You can also visit the Plaza de toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla, a 12,000 seat bullring built in the 18th century that is still operating today.  Try to go during the annual Seville Fair that place between April 30th and May 6thth this year.

Chicago 

Chicago is located in the Midwestern USA and is known as “the windy city”.  It is the home of the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, the Willis Tower.  You can climb the stairs to the top for a fabulous workout or you can ride the elevator.  It has a skydeck where you can view the city from a bird’s eye view.  Navy Pier is an area along the Chicago lakefront that is filled with shopping, restaurants, gardens and parks and it is a fabulous place to spend a day or two.  Make sure to sample some of the world famous food like deep-dish pizza, beef sandwiches and a hot dog at Wrigley Field.

Istanbul

Istanbul is the capital city of Turkey and it is a fascinating blend of Asian and European cultures.  When you arrive in Istanbul and get out your taxi from the airport, you won’t be short of things to see and do. There are plenty of churches, mosques, and markets to explore. Be sure to visit the Blue Mosque, a stunning example of architecture and Islamic culture.  Visit the Hippodrome of Constantinople where chariot races were once performed.
