4 Things To Do On A Cottage Holiday in Cornwall

Cornwall is one of the best places in the UK to take a cottage holiday, there’s nothing better than having your own cozy cottage on the coast of the UK. There are plenty of options available to you and something to suit all the needs of your group. Staying in a Cornish coastal cottage was the highlight of last year for me, so I thought I should share with you why I love it so much and why you should book your cottage holiday there right away.

Cornwall is a wonderful place to visit and the following is going to go over just a few of the things you can do (there are many if you go looking), so sit back and enjoy reading more about the things to do in Cornwall when you’re on your cottage holiday there.

The Eden Project

The Eden Project was opened in 2003 and is the home of very large enclosures in the form of domes, and these domes house thousands of plant species. The structures are a truly curious site to see, especially with the tall trees that almost reach the tops of the large domes in some parts. Each part has a different theme, for example the rainforests of South America and West Africa. Outside of the domes is a botanical garden that is dedicated to the native plant life of Cornwall and also other parts of the UK. The Eden Project is truly a world class tourist, educational and conservation project that you should visit.

Food and Drink

Cornwall is famous the world over for two thing: ale and pasties. This really is no coincidence, because the Cornish cuisine is probably one of the best regional cuisines in the United Kingdom. The Cornish are also famous for things like meat pies and various fish dishes, due to the close proximity of Cornwall to the sea.

Tintagel Castle

This case is the remains of a medieval fortification on Tintagel Island that has been a tourist attraction since the mid 19th century and was built by Richard, Earl of Cornwall in the 13th century. The castle offers stunning views of the coast, with its high elevation and steep cliffs that drop sharply to the Celtic Sea. One of the most famous things about the castle is its constant connection throughout history to being the castle of King Arthur, however this has been heavily debated!

The Lizard

The Lizard is a peninsula in Southern Cornwall and is home to Lizard Point, which is the most southerly point of the British mainland. The peninsula is also well known for its unique geology and abundance of rare plants and is considered to be part of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which is a high achievement for such a beautiful part of the world.
