3 Nice Places to go to in Santorini

Yes, we just can’t get enough of Santorini. This is probably one of the most breath-taking places in the whole world. It’s so genuinely dramatically romantic that you’d want to stay there. The best way to explore Santorini would be by foot but if it’s your first time, you’d be better off joining a tour group first. After we shared some tips in going to Santorini in our previous post, we’ll name now some spots you should not miss while there:

Oia

In Greek, that’s pronounced E-ah. Anyway, Oia is the part of Santorini featured in so many movies (like Mama Mia). Oia is best known for the cave houses built into its cliff. These cave houses, serenely white, are beautiful either from a distance or up close.

Local Winery

Of course, there is quite an abundance of wineries in Santorini, depends on which one your tour guide decides to bring you to. We were brought into one which bore no name but whose wines were thick tasting but good. Tip though, the desert wines are better than the reds and whites in Santorini so if you wanna try something, try that.

Vineyard

What is really interesting about the wine-making in Santorini though, goes beyond the wine. It’s actually how they grow the grapes. See, in order for them to grow grapes, they have to weave them into basket-like shape so that the grapes will grow in the middle of the basket and be protected from the wind. Genius, really.

As for the rest of places you should visit, that’s up to you. There are markets in almost every town where you can get souvenirs and try local foods. Santorini is also really amazing once you see it at night. So go out at night and get lost a little. You might just get the time of your life.

I'm Phoebe, a writer who lives in the bustling city of Manila in the Philippines. Apart from staying in this archipelagic country with various interesting beaches, mountains and plains, hey,I still want to travel the world. I was lucky to visit a few Asian countries. I found the (very!) best egg tarts I've ever tasted in Jordan, Kowloon; fell truly in-love with Thailand's serenity and Phuket's seascape; visited Singapore three times and finding out new interesting places each time; and flew at 72 meters above sea level in Sentosa's Zipline. With these few trips, it fueled me to achieve more travels in the next few years. I dreamt to travel farther and wider across the globe, with the promise of setting foot on Paris before I die. I'm not afraid to travel alone. And I'm not afraid to get lost, that is part of the journey. I can walk all day and night exploring the city, the culture and relish the different delicacies. With travelling, there is much languages to learn, cultures to understand, people to know, and I am ready for that. These all shows the risk-taker in me. Apart from jumping to different places, I love to work and to write (wherein working and writing does not make any difference to me). I take opportunities as they come, with the fear that it will never come again. With that said, I am very eager to take part on each of your journeys and share whatever experiences and knowledge I have to help each of you (our readers) have a trip that you cannot forget. Cheers!
